I’m Cloyce Sutton, and I currently preach in the Memphis, TN area. I’ve been preaching for over 40 years, 35 of which have been in full-time ministry. I’ve preached in Kansas, Kentucky (twice), Iowa, and Tennessee.
My wife, Alethea, and I have been married for 32 delightful years. She’s my best friend and most helpful critic. We’ve been blessed with three children, their wonderful spouses, and five grandchildren. We love to walk and hike, travel, eat out, and visit our kids and grandkids.
I come from a restorationist background, meaning that I’m committed to replicating the first century church in the twenty-first century. I believe it’s not only possible, but critical that to teach, practice, and defend the “faith once for all handed down to the saints” (Jude 3, NASB). That doesn’t mean that I’ve got all the answers – far from it. Nor does it mean that any of the congregations I’ve worked with are perfect – far from it. (They wouldn’t have hired me if they were perfect!) What it does mean is that I’m committed to Christ as his disciple, to the New Testament as his covenant today, and to his body as a fellowship of his followers.
